About

Hi! I’m David, an economist, teacher, and data enthusiast currently pursuing my PhD in Economics at the University of Kansas. My journey through the world of economics and data analysis has been driven by a desire to find patterns, solve problems, and communicate ideas in ways that are both creative and accessible.

My Professional Path

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Kansas, I dove into the world of analytics, working as a process and procurement analyst, where I streamlined production processes using Python and automated data pipelines with SAP and SQL. Before that, I was a Data Analyst with the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, where I helped automate COVID-19 testing database migration. During the pandemic, I worked closely with epidemiologists to manage public health strategies—an experience that taught me how crucial data-driven decision-making is in high-pressure environments.

Teaching and Research

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Kansas, I currently lecture to 140 students in an introductory microeconomics course. One of my biggest goals is to make economics accessible and engaging, especially for students who may be encountering the subject for the first time. I’m proud to say that my students typically achieve half a grade higher than the course average, which I attribute to my commitment to creating a supportive and interactive learning environment.

What drives me

I’ve always been a bit unconventional in my approach to both work and learning. Whether it’s automating processes to create efficiency or finding creative ways to present data, I believe in the power of looking at things from a fresh perspective. I’m passionate about bringing clarity to complexity, and that mindset shapes both my academic research and the way I approach teaching.

If you’re curious about the intersection of economics, data analytics, and education, or you just want to talk about new ways of thinking, I’d love to connect!
